Korean Pop Music industry
Korean pop music or k-pop as we know today it got its start in the 90’s, but it came to its presently recognizable form after decades of cultural blending. Western culture, which arrived in earnest in the 1950s. Pop music became quite popular in Korea due to the Western influence of pop music. Idol groups hit in the 1990’s. After the debut of Seo Taiji and Boys in 1992, a trio of hip-hop singer-rappers who combine American pop music with Korean lyrics. Seo Taiji and Boys experienced massive popularity in Korea. Entertainment companies bounced on this new style of music and began creating copy-cat groups.
